Student Code of Conduct

Glenmore University upholds high standards of student conduct to foster a community of respect, accountability, and ethical behavior. Students are expected to adhere to legal and ethical standards in all their academic and personal endeavors. This policy is designed to encourage personal development while maintaining institutional integrity and compliance with accreditation and state regulations.

Key expectations include:

●       Respect for the rights, dignity, and property of others.

●       Commitment to academic integrity and honesty.

●       Compliance with university policies local, state, and federal laws.

●       Zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, or violence.

Students are required to uphold the following standards at all times:

●       Academic Integrity: Students must complete their own work, avoid plagiarism and cheating, and adhere to the Academic Integrity Policy.

●       Respect for Others: All students must treat peers, faculty, and staff with professionalism and courtesy, regardless of background, opinion, or identity.

●       Use of University Systems: University technology must be used appropriately and lawfully. Misuse of digital platforms, accounts, or academic tools is prohibited.

●       Ethical Communication: Online communication should remain respectful, civil, and free from harassment, threats, or disruptive behavior.

●       Compliance with University Policy: Students are responsible for reading and following all published university policies related to conduct, academics, and student services.

Examples of Code Violations

Examples of prohibited conduct include, but are not limited to:

●       Plagiarism, cheating, or falsifying academic records

●       Use of abusive or discriminatory language in any university-affiliated communication

●       Disruption of class activities or discussion boards

●       Unauthorized access to university platforms or impersonation of another user

●       Harassment, threats, or retaliation toward members of the university community

 

Non-Academic Dismissal Policies

Glenmore University is committed to maintaining a safe, ethical, and professionally appropriate learning environment for all members of its academic community. In situations where a student’s behavior, conduct, or failure to comply with institutional policy poses a significant risk to the university community or violates established standards, the university reserves the right to initiate non-academic dismissal proceedings.

 

Dismissal decisions are made carefully and in accordance with due process, institutional policy, and applicable laws to ensure fairness and consistency. 

 

Disciplinary Appeals Process

A student has the right to appeal a non-academic dismissal decision. Appeals must be submitted in writing to the Office of Student Affairs within 10 business days of the dismissal notice. The appeal should clearly state the grounds for appeal and include any relevant supporting documentation. An appeal review committee will evaluate the request and issue a final decision within 15 business days of receiving the appeal. The outcome of the appeal is final.

Academic Freedom and Integrity

Glenmore University upholds the principles of academic freedom and integrity as foundational elements of a scholarly community. These principles are essential for fostering an environment where learning, inquiry, and scholarly activities can thrive without barriers.


1. Academic Freedom: Glenmore University is committed to maintaining an academic environment that protects and respects the freedom of expression and inquiry. Faculty members are encouraged to pursue scholarly interests, present research findings, and engage in open discussion without undue interference or restriction, provided such activities are conducted in a professional and ethical manner.


  1. Academic Integrity: The university expects all members of its community to uphold the highest standards of academic honesty and integrity. Students, faculty, and staff are required to engage in their studies, teaching, and research in a manner that reflects fairness, honesty, and respect for the originality of others. Academic integrity is critical to the preservation of educational excellence and the advancement of knowledge.


  1. Responsibilities: 

●       Faculty are responsible for setting clear guidelines about the nature of academic integrity in their courses, including citation practices and the appropriate use of university resources.


●       Students are expected to adhere to these standards in all academic activities, submit original work, and avoid any form of cheating, plagiarism, or dishonest behavior.


●       Administration plays a pivotal role by providing support and resources necessary to uphold academic integrity, handling allegations of misconduct according to established policies, and maintaining a transparent and fair adjudication process.


  1. Violations and Sanctions: Any violations of academic integrity, such as plagiarism, cheating, or falsification of information, are taken seriously and will result in disciplinary actions that may include, but are not limited to, a failing grade on the assignment, failure in the course, academic probation, or expulsion from the university.


5. Reporting and Resolution Procedures: Members of the university community are encouraged to report suspected breaches of academic integrity to their instructors or through the designated university channels. The university ensures that all reports are investigated thoroughly and fairly, with respect to the rights of all parties involved.

Student Complaint and Grievance Procedures

The university's Student Grievance and Complaint Policy outlines a clear step-by-step procedure for students to address and resolve grievances and complaints.


Informal Resolution Process

  1. Initial Discussion: Students are encouraged to discuss their concerns directly with the relevant faculty or staff member to seek immediate resolution.

  2. Consultation: If the issue is not resolved, the student should consult with their academic advisor or department chair for further guidance.

    • Timeline: This step should be initiated as soon as the student becomes aware of the issue.


Formal Complaint Process

  1. Submission of Complaint: If informal resolution fails, students must submit a written complaint through the university’s designated complaint portal or office.

    • Documentation: The complaint should include a clear description of the issue, any relevant documentation, and the desired resolution.

    • Timeline: Complaints must be submitted within 10 business days following the final informal consultation.

  2. Review and Decision: The appropriate administrator will review the complaint and provide a decision.

    • Timeline: The review process will be completed within 10 business days from the date of complaint submission.

Formal Grievance Process

  1. Filing a Grievance: If the complaint remains unresolved, students can escalate the issue by filing a formal grievance with the Office of Student Affairs.

    • Timeline: Grievances must be filed within 10 business days following the formal complaint decision.

  2. Investigation: The Grievance Committee will conduct a thorough investigation, which may include gathering statements and additional documentation from relevant parties.

    • Timeline: The investigation and resolution process will be completed within 30 business days from the date of grievance filing.

  3. Resolution Issuance: A resolution to the grievance will be issued and communicated to the student.


Appeal Process

  1. Appeal Submission: If dissatisfied with the grievance resolution, students have the option to appeal the decision.

    • Timeline: Appeals must be submitted within 10 business days after receiving the grievance resolution.

  2. Final Review: The appeal will be reviewed by a higher administrative authority, which will make a final decision on the matter.

    • Timeline: The final decision will be communicated within 15 business days from the date of appeal submission.
